Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp is one of the most talented and fashionable actors of Hollywood. His credentials lie his box office hits, like Edward Scissor Hands, the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Finding Neverland, just to name a few. At the age of seventeen, Johnny got his very first tattoo which is quite significant to him. Each of them is symbolic to his life, loved ones, events and ideas. He says the tattoos present on his body are a visual storybook for all to read.

Johnny has around 12 tattoos. There is a tattoo of a swallow and the sunset with the name Jack lying underneath it. This tattoo was done during the filming of his movie Pirates of the Caribbean. He got it done because the temporary one for his character, Jack Sparrow, mesmerised him so much that he got a real one. Many people believe that it symbolises his son, Jack, instead of the Jack Sparrow character. He had the swallow made into an inverted position, making it appear as though it is moving towards him. There is an inscription of the Lily Rose on the side where the heart lays, done in honour of his daughter Lily Rose.

He has the name of his mother tattooed on his heart and on his left bicep to depict his mother as the first woman of his life; the names are Heart and Betty Sue. There is also a tattoo inscribed Wino Forever on his right bicep, which was originally written as Winona Forever, when he was dating actress Winona Ryder. Just below this tattoo is one with a Cherokee Native American, symbolising his heritage and culture.

The tattoo with the brave symbol is on his right arm inspired, by the movie Brave. Right above his mother’s name is the inverted triangle, which is the symbol of femininity and also a way to be romantically expressive. On his right index finger, three rectangles are tattooed, which he calls the phone doodle. This tattoo is hidden by a ring when he is filming.

On the left hand is the number three as he considers this number symbolic to being special, creative, mystical and magical. He also has a tattoo of a skull with crossbones which only he knows the symbolism of. On his leg is the tattoo of a question mark, and recently he has the tattoo of the Silence Exile Cunning, which is a quote taken from the book, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, by James Joyce.
